Yet more proof that mediocrity gets a LOOOOOOT of airtime in this country. In this clip from Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, the former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler struggles with the question, “Budapest is the capital of what European country?”

- Pickler admits that she thought Europe WAS a country, and
- She’s not sure if France is a country.
- Jeff Foxworthy has to struggle to keep her focused and on task.
Ummm…Whoa!

That’s okay. So does Bush.
That is just frightening. This clip scares me more that the “Miss South Carolina” clip. MSC just really needed to say nothing at all, and she would have gotten more points, but this woman really seemed to be TRYING to figure it out.

Forte, I couldn’t agree with you more. Miss South Carolina had a terrible question – really, how do you answer that one without looking horribly anti-American? — but Pickler had no excuse.
